What a first bag needs

Nine clubs cover every shot a new golfer can hit: a driver, one fairway wood or hybrid for long shots off the grass, irons from 6 to pitching wedge, a sand wedge and a putter. Three things matter more than the brand: a wide sole so a heavy strike skids instead of digging, offset so a slow swing has time to square the face, and the right shaft flex for your speed. All three are columns in the tables.
